Network to get work

How many of you are pumping out resume after resume and not finding results? The secret to job search is networking.

Network, Network, Network.

With the holiday season just around the corner; attend as many as possible. Connect, deeply connect with people.

Extroverts will find networking events a breeze. This is not about collecting business cards (this is not about moving from one flower to another).

Introverts, yes this is hard. Find time after the event for mindful activities. Research and find who is attending the event. Creep on them on LinkedIn (look at their profile and seek them out at the event).

Connect on a deeper connection. I like to use the FORDC model.

F – Family
O – Occupation
R – Recreation
D – Dreams
C – Challenges

Next craft your ‘Elevator Speech’. You can also think about your LinkedIn Summary as your elevator speech. Rinse and Repeat.

A couple days ago, I was introduced to Angela Nguyen, I gave my #ElevatorPitch, my ‘WOW’ factor. I then explained my ‘NOW’. My pitch was on-point as Angela remembered me from a session I did exactly a year ago to the date. She mentioned the Personality Dimensions sessions was really a lot of fun, lot of learning and a practical tool she can use at work and home. Thank you, Lori James, for contracting me to deliver the session.

My ‘WHY’ was evident.

What is the best way for you to practice your #ElevatorPitch?Practice, practice, practice. Networking is hard. Get practicing,

Upload your video by Nov. 30 (using LinkedIn native video tools) in the comments below and use the hashtag #ElevatorPitch. Tag others that would benefit. I will review and post the best 3 in December.
